The Horses

The drive to Bluewater Lake State park was very uneventful. There was beautiful scenery, but a very straight drive.

I stopped by the Standard Diner in Albuquerque, NM and had a good, not great chicken sandwich with a fantastic IPA from La Cumbre. Albuquerque was interesting, had a nice freeway system and the road was much busier than I was expecting at 3PM on a Monday. I don't feel like I am missing much.

The park was just off 40 W, runs along side of historic 66, and you simply go over a mountain into the park. I turned to early into what was supposed to be the park but there were goats, a dog, and what looked like a scene from deliverance. Another mile down the road and I arrived at the park. It was a beautiful lake that I was able to get a site that looked almost directly upon it. Also there were four random horses. I wouldn't call them wild, but they were definitely not domesticated.

It was a cold night but I held up pretty well and the time change had me getting up early in the morning. All in all a successful day and on Wednesday I get back to civilization which is nice. I need a shower.
